Quercus Park at Carrick rumbled to the sounds of revving utes, stomping boots and local and interstate country rocks bands on Saturday night at Hagley Rural Youth’s annual Rural Rumble concert.
More than 830 people attended, most in a uniform of Blunnies, jeans and country shirts plus a good number of western hats with plaited bands and cow tags.
Young local rising talent Loui Moran, from just up the road at Westbury, opened the line-up, followed by emerging Australian country music singer-songwriter, podcaster and auto electrician from Longreach, Queensland, Riley Ziskey.
Zac Weeks
Zac and George (Zac Roddy and George Goodfellow from New South Wales) and Smithton’s very own Zac Weeks were the headliners and kept everyone dancing despite the escalating rain.
Line-dancing sessions testing the co-ordination of the young crowd and also proved popular.
Hagley Rural Youth president Matthew Wadley said the turn-out and energy was fantastic considering the weather.
“We had some fun competitions that were well supported - the utes really came out in force and we even had a running barrel race.
“A lot of people camped on site and made a weekend of it.”
Any profit made from the event stays with Hagley Rural Youth and is reinvested into the next one to make it bigger and better.
